Putting An End To The Blog Commenting Debate

If you make a visit to the majority of the webmaster forums online, the one argument that seems to ensue is the value of blog commenting for earning one way backlinks. So, to answer whether or not that method is valuable or not, I will simply say that is it a very valuable method of promotion, when used responsibly. You will have to read on to see my conclusion to this argumentt .

First, I am going to talk about having a natural looking backlink structure. What I mean by this, is having a backlink structure that resembles exactly what happens in nature. The team behind Google are very good at finding out the methods that SEO Experts use to rank their sites, so naturally, one would assume that if Google got the idea that the big method of backlink generation at the time is article marketing, then they are more than likely going to end up discounting the value of these links somehow, if a website is ranking purely based on those backlinks alone .

With that aside, a highly variable backlink structure is paramount when it comes to ranking in Google, and looks very natural to Google. As an example, a website that has links from only one source would more than likely lose out in the rankings than one that has a large variety from various sources.

Now, if we head back to the various questions and debates that we see in the various forums online, I am going to have to be as blunt as possible. On its own, blog commenting is an inefficient method of generating one way backlinks, and in all cases, something that you should not focus a large amount of time on. However, earning backlinks from a variety of sources is always going to be a great idea, as such, blog commenting when used to balance out a diverse link structure is extremely effective.

Now, we are going to go even deeper into the debate, and talk about the value of no follow and do follow links. Again, a lot of webmasters assume all too easily that the only backlinks of value are do follow backlinks. They couldn’t be more incorrect. Sure, a do follow backlink will pass page rank, but that is all. What is a high PageRank if Google is going to see your site as only having do follow backlinks?

In just about every scenario, the better methods involve completely forgetting about PageRank and followable links. The best methodology involves seeking backlinks from a variety of sources, that are a variety of types. It is as simple as that. Your end goal involves looking as natural to Google as possible as to avoid any possible penalisation, what most SEO people refer to as being “The Google Slap”.

In concluding this piece, I will refer to the question surrounding this article. Is blog commenting an effective method of SEO? The answer is only ever going to be yes, if this method is used responsibly as a method of varying the backlinks that point to your site. As with all methods, use it responsibly .
