Finding Your Audience Away From the Internet

People who consider themselves internet marketers tend to become so immersed in the online world that they focus all of their marketing in that direction. How much do you spend every month on things like PPC advertising, outsourcing SEO, paying for ezine or banner ads or other online marketing methods? With all of your internet-based marketing efforts, have you perhaps ignored all of the ways you could be marketing offline? As hard to believe as this is for some people, not everyone is online! The key point is that if you only use one type of marketing, you are going to be bypassing lots of people who get their information elsewhere! Perhaps you can see that this is something worth trying, so how do you get started? Here are the basic offline marketing methods every internet marketer should try.

This method deals with flier distribution but check your local laws on this one. Is it allowed to put one on your people’s doors? What about in mailboxes; is that permitted by law? The law part is out of the way, now it is time to get to work by printing some simple fliers out on your desktop (you can do a search online or go to your local library to learn how); if you don’t have the time then just outsource the job to a small business or a freelancer, these types of products don’t cost much. If you really your to ramp up this technique then you can hire some teenagers or someone off of Craigslist to assist you. You never know how many potential clients you can reach this way. Put a coupon code into the fliers so you can track your success! Do you use public transportation regularly? People out in public are always checking out someone else’s clothes so use yours to advertise your website. You can usually get this done at a local shop for a reasonable price. Also, remember that it is a practice of many printing companies to offer first-time customers a free print on “the house.”

The free t-shirt, hand bag or any other clothing sample you decided to get imprinted can now be worn in public and used for what they were intended; as a subtle form of advertisement for your website. A person might ask you what the site is about but you will be surprised by the number of people that actually will visit the URL out of curiosity.

Another forum you may not have considered is radio advertising. Unless you have a creative way to exchange or barter for radio advertising, this type of ad is not cheap; however, when you consider the number of people who you could be reaching, it’s often a sound investment. People still listen to radio stations quite a bit; consider all the cars on the road at any given time and how many of them have the radio on. If thousands of people are listening, what if even ten percent of them went to your site? If even a small percentage are interested, you could end up with thousands of new visitors and potential clients!

The methods that I listed above don’t even scratch the surface of offline marketing. Offline advertising does not have to be limited to just a few venues. You can make your site known to millions of people if you approach it right. Yes, there are people who are only recently being taught internet use; this is your opportunity to reach down before they get heavily involved. There are so many potential clients out there that the market for your products and services is almost unlimited. As made clear throughout this thread; you must look for new traffic sources. Do you think that the million dollar marketer use only online methods?
